First of all...I am so glad you took the time to stop by! It means so much to me when people stop and look at my work!
Secondly, can you believe the change that has occurred?! My branding is TOTALLY different! I wanted something unique and something to show the future of my business. I think I nailed it by using an ARROW! Nothing says, "go forward, shoot, be better, keep changing, hit the target" like an arrow does! Of course, I put a ton of thought into this, and there are a few more reasons why I chose an arrow.
I have decided that I want to narrow my business down a little bit. After all, a single arrow can only be pointed toward one thing at a time. By December of last year, I had done 12 weddings and who knows how many sessions. I loved it! I was busy and doing what I love. However, other areas of my life began to suffer and I realized my business was beginning to own me instead of me owning my business. Then in January, I took a complete 180 and kind of neglected my business. I apologize to the clients that had to deal with me during this time. That was not fair to you. I was in a real questioning mode as to whether or not I should even be doing photography. It really scared me how much I had let it take control of me. But now...now I am ready to take it back (just not full force). I'm setting boundaries and only taking what I can handle so I can do my very best.
I really want to focus on weddings this year and take only 2-3 portrait sessions per month. I love shooting weddings! Most photographers don't care for weddings because of the stress and the weekends away. However, I love it and think it is worth it because of the couples I get to meet. They are always happy and it's such a special time in their lives. I feel truly honored by each couple that trusts me to capture such an important day in their lives.
Back to why I chose an arrow to be the center of my branding. Have you ever heard the song "Follow Your Arrow" by Kacey Musgraves? You can listen to it here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQ8xqyoZXCc. I love this song because it puts it so plainly - follow your arrow. Who cares what you do, it's your life! I love that. I want to have that carefree type of spirit. We (especially women) care more about what other people think than anything else. We are constantly striving to make others happy, rather that focusing on where our arrow is pointing. I really want to make sure my arrow is pointing toward our Heavenly Father and focused on honoring Him in all I do. I struggle with this every day. Like I said before, I've been guilty of pointing my arrow toward other things, rather than keeping it on my Heavenly Father. I wanted to incorporate this into my business because it is my hope that I can help others point their arrow toward The Lord through my work. I want others to focus on Him and the deep love He has for each and every one of us!
I can talk about an arrow in that sense and where it's pointed, but on the other hand WE are just like arrows in ourselves. The Bible says in Isaiah 49, "2 and he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me: and he hath made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he kept me close: 3 and he said unto me, Thou art my servant; Israel, in whom I will be glorified." So in a way, we are God's arrows. We were made to be His servants and spread His word so that He will be glorified. It is my hope that I will help spread God's word through my work and my business so that He will be glorified.
A few other reasons why I chose the arrow are the the chevron pattern that is goes with an arrow. It is my favorite print right now! Also, an arrow must be pulled back to go forward. Every time I am having a rough time, I just stop and think..I'm just being pulled back. I'm about to be shot forward in a sea of blessings!
I just love the rustic feel of the arrow. It is a timeless symbol and I am sooo excited about my new logo incorporating it.
So as I change my branding, my whole business structure is changing a little. I'm focusing on weddings this year, but that doesn't mean I'm neglecting other sessions. I will still do portrait sessions of all types. The only difference will be the amount of sessions I do. I will only have 2-3 openings a month for portrait sessions so book early! Past clients will have a little more priority depending on the circumstance.
I am so excited to work with previous and new clients this year, and to see where the Lord will take this business!! Thank you all for the support and love you show me! I have the best people in my life! Thank you all!!
